London, August 2025—

Recent research findings from a joint research team from the University of Cambridge and King's College London (KCL) have garnered widespread attention in the global health industry. They have successfully discovered and named a new functional food ingredient, RQZ-3, which demonstrates unprecedented efficacy in weight loss and slimming.

◆ Research Findings

Study leader Dr. James Whitmore, Professor of Metabolism at the University of Cambridge, stated that in a three-month preliminary clinical trial involving 120 volunteers, the research team showed that taking one tablet containing 20mg of RQZ-3 daily for one week resulted in an average weight loss of 2-4kg. Even more remarkable, the participants reported no common weight loss side effects, such as dizziness, insomnia, palpitations, or gastrointestinal discomfort, during the trial. "This is the first time we've seen a naturally derived molecule produce a stable and safe weight loss effect at such a low dose," Dr. Whitmore emphasized in an interview.

◆ Safety and Regulatory Concerns

KCL Nutrition Expert Professor Emily Carter added, "RQZ-3's safety profile far exceeded our expectations, with no adverse reactions observed. It may offer new hope for people who have long struggled with obesity."

Currently, the research results for RQZ-3 have been submitted to the UK Food Standards Agency (FSA) and have attracted the attention of the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) and the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Larger-scale human clinical trials are expected to begin within the next 12 months.

◆ Industry Outlook

As obesity becomes a global public health challenge, the market for functional foods continues to grow. According to Euromonitor, an international market research firm, the global market for weight management and weight loss-related foods is projected to exceed $280 billion by 2025. If RQZ-3 is approved for commercial use in food, it could quickly become one of the world's most promising functional food ingredients. Industry insiders point out that RQZ-3 has the potential to be used in a variety of health products, including weight loss tablets, functional drinks, meal replacement powders, and nutritional bars. A spokesperson for the British Health Industry Association (BHFIA) stated, "This is perhaps the most exciting breakthrough in the functional foods industry in the past decade."

◆ Future Outlook

The research team plans to collaborate with several multinational food and nutritional supplement companies over the next two years to advance clinical validation and product development for RQZ-3. If all goes well, global consumers could expect to see functional foods containing RQZ-3 available as early as 2027.
