On August 19th, Bloomberg reported that Apple is significantly expanding iPhone production in India. Five contract manufacturers have fully commenced assembly of the entire new iPhone 17 series, including the high-end Pro models, targeting the US market.
According to media reports, Apple has identified the US market as a core export destination for its Made in India products. By the second quarter of 2025, Indian-made smartphones will account for 44% of total US imports, making it the largest supplier of smartphones to the US. According to insiders, Apple plans to rely almost entirely on Indian manufacturing for its iPhone 18 series sold in the US by the end of 2026.
