Top 10 Fall/Winter 2025 Trends

By: HSEclub NewsAug 11, 2025

The first breeze of autumn arrives, bringing a gentle chill.

The summer heat begins to dissipate, and it's time to put away the lightweight layers in your wardrobe, letting thicker textures, deep hues, and layered constructions take center stage.

This season, designers continued to refine silhouettes, details, materials, and proportions, revitalizing the "vitality" of fall/winter wardrobes and integrating them more seamlessly into the season and into everyday wear.

01. Draped Coats

Scandinavian refinement is incorporated into effortless coats. The clean silhouette combines flowing lines, creating a more fluid feel that transcends simple draping.

The key structure lies in the lines of the neckline, pleats, and wrap-around design, adding a dynamic effect. Its advantage lies in its ease of styling. A dark gray wool turtleneck coat paired with wide-leg pants is a stylish street style.

02. Knee-Grazing Skirts

Midi skirts hit mid-calf, maintaining a slender silhouette and making them easy to pair with boots.

Autumn and winter styles often feature soft pleats or A-line hems. Paired with a sweater and boots for a gentle and effortless look during the day, they can be paired with a blazer or silk shirt for a sophisticated look at night.

This length strikes the perfect balance between practicality and style, allowing the skirt to retain its fluidity and feminine appeal even in the colder months.

03. Belt Up

As layering becomes a regular feature in autumn and winter, belts serve more than just securing clothing; they become a sculpting tool and a focal point of any look.

Balmain's exaggerated metal buckle waistbands lend sculptural form to suits and coats, while Christopher Esber's wrap-around belts offer a casual twist on traditional structure. For everyday wear, a wide leather belt cinched over a thick sweater instantly perks up a loose silhouette, adding a clear proportion and visual focus to layered winter outfits.

04. Flirting with Fur

Fur, a classic element, is reimagined for Fall/Winter 2025—no longer a luxurious, all-over garment, but rather a trimming on cuffs, collars, skirts, or bags.

Notably, this season's fur trims are often combined with different materials, such as leather and fur patchwork or plush trims on printed fabrics.

This mix and match makes fur feel less heavy and more youthful and playful. For example, a dark blue leather jacket with an ivory fur collar strikes a balance between toughness and softness.

05. Fringe Is Back

Fringes, draped from shoulder to hem, create a unique rhythmic movement as you walk.

They can be a full-length embellishment on an evening gown or a detailed embellishment on a knitted shawl. Fine threads shimmer in the light, imbuing the look with music.

Whether glamorous for formal occasions or fluid for everyday wear, tassels can imbue a garment with a subtle sense of movement even in stillness.

06. Tartans and Checks

Plaid is always present in fall and winter, but this year, it's taking on a fresher tone in both color and placement.

Burberry's classic camel remains a stalwart, but on the runway, we also saw new plaids in light blue, dark green, and caramel, as well as experimenting with patchworks of varying sizes.

A plaid suit can convey a sophisticated look, while a plaid tweed coat lends a relaxed aesthetic. A plaid skirt paired with biker boots adds a touch of preppy flair. Its benefits are that it can be both retro and elegant, or youthful and playful.

07. Shoulder Spotlight

The return of broad shoulders evokes the "power dressing" of the '80s and '90s—the sharp shoulder line and sharp tailoring create a commanding presence. This season's wide-shouldered coats aren't solely about size; they're about proportion: broad shoulders with a tapered waist create a powerful yet feminine silhouette. Paired with simple bottoms, the shoulders become the focal point.

08. Ruffles

This season, Chloé uses ruffles to convey a mature romance—they're no longer simply a symbol of sweetness, but add an architectural touch through their layering and curving forms.

Lightly adorned at cuffs, hems, or collars, these ruffles create an unexpected tension when paired with stiff wool or crisp cotton. This interplay of softness and strength elevates ruffles from their "girlish" label, transforming them into a detail accessible to all ages.

09. Necklines

From the Elizabethan courts to today's runways, the romance of the ruffled collar has always captivated. For Fall/Winter 2025, ruffled collars might be lightly layered in chiffon or crisply structured in cotton. It's best paired with modern elements, like a ruffle-collared shirt with baggy jeans, or a ruffle-collared dress with a leather jacket—creating the most interesting tension between retro and modern.

10. Dark Aesthetic

This season, the dark aesthetic isn't a monotonous, all-black look, but rather a playful use of contrasting materials to create layered textures. The lightness of tulle, the heaviness of velvet, the toughness of leather, and the delicateness of lace all echo each other within the same outfit.

It can be a fitted maxi dress or a loose cape-like coat; it possesses a sharp edge while retaining a sense of mystery and sensuality. The key is to break up the dullness with a play of textures, allowing the black to breathe between light and shadow.

11. Frazzled Elegance

This trend embodies urban life—large scarves draped loosely, long coats slightly opened, and seemingly casual layers within, yet the proportions and color schemes are thoughtfully considered. Its essence lies in "imperfect perfection." Scarves don't need to be neatly tied, hair doesn't need to be perfectly combed, yet still create a sophisticated impression. It's that busy yet stylish state that draws people in.

12. 1980s Tailoring

Pencil skirts, carrot pants, and cropped, waist-cinching jackets—these symbols of the 1980s are back again this season. They emphasize the waistline, and crisp fabrics create a silhouette that creates a sense of effortless power.

Unlike before, today's 1980s tailoring uses more subdued colors and softer materials to soften the sharpness, making it easy to incorporate into everyday wear.

Autumn and winter clothing is a dual dialogue with the weather and your mood. No matter which style you choose, don't chase all the trends; simply let it become a warm companion and a statement of style in your life.
